Fire Department and EMS Services

The Primary mission of Lavonia Fire Department; is to minimize injuries, deaths, and property loss resulting from fires, motor vehicle accidents, and other medical emergencies. This is accomplished by good leadership, dedicated volunteer firefighters, modern equipment, and up to date training regiments, along with the support of city administration, the citizens of Lavonia, and surrounding areas.

The Lavonia Fire Department has 30 volunteer firefighters, which includes no paid staff. We respond to all fire related emergencies in the City of Lavonia, along with some area outside the city limits. We are dispatched from Franklin County's 911 center located in Carnesville.

Lavonia Fire Department supports its citizens, by taking apart in several events each year such as; the fall festival, Lavonia's night out against crime (sponsored by Lavonia Police Department), the Lavonia Annual Christmas Parade and fire prevention week. Fire prevention week consists of going to all area schools and daycare business in our area to talk to kids about fire safety.

Lavonia Fire Dept responds to approximately 75 calls per year; averaging 20 firefighters per call, with average response time of 3min and an on-scene time of 7min.

Lavonia Fire Dept meets every 2nd and 4th Monday night at 7:00 for training and every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 for equipment check offs; totaling around 96hrs of training a year per firefighter.

Emergency Services for the city of Lavonia is provided by Franklin Co. EMS which has 4 stations located thru out Franklin Co. Station 1 located in Franklin Springs, Station 2 located in Lavonia, Station 3 located in Double Churches, and Station 4 located in Carnesville. All med units have a minimum of one Paramedic and one EMT and handle any and all medical calls for the County Lavonia Fire Dept assist EMS when needed on Medical and Trauma calls by providing First Responders that respond along with EMS.
