Dear Valued Customer,
We want to keep you informed about the recent updates to our water and sewer rate structure, which were approved to meet current statewide regulations and promote water conservation in Lavonia. These adjustments are the first since 2018, making them both timely and necessary for the continued growth and sustainability of our community.
What’s Changing?
The new rate structure is based on a standardized measure called Equivalent Residential Units (ERUs). An ERU represents the average monthly water usage for a residential customer, calculated as 3,625 gallons. This measurement was determined with guidance from the Georgia Rural Water Association to ensure accuracy and fairness across customer categories.
How Will This Impact You?
By adopting ERUs, the City of Lavonia can more accurately align rates with water usage, creating a system that supports conservation and ensures that resources are allocated fairly. The average customer uses approximately 3,625 gallons of water per month, so this new structure will reflect the needs of our community while staying in compliance with state standards.
We appreciate your understanding and partnership as we implement these necessary updates. Please visit our website or contact the Water Department if you have questions or would like more details about how the new rates will affect your account.

Thank you for supporting a sustainable and thriving Lavonia!
